Boost your memory with coffee!

We already know that your favorite beverage to perk you up does more for your brain than just keeping you alert. In 2014, researchers at Johns Hopkins University concluded that coffee has a memory-enhancing effect. According to Asst Professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences Michael Yassa, “caffeine enhanced consolidation of long-term memories in humans.”

In June 2015, these results were further elucidated in another study. A group of international scientists from Portugal, the United States, and Brazil found that caffeine blocked certain receptors in the brain and the production chemicals usually associated with stress. According to Associate Professor Rodrigo Cunha, the team leader, these are the same chemicals that have been associated with memory loss.

This new study adds further data in the ever-growing number of studies showing the health benefits of coffee. Indeed, coffee is a healthy beverage.
