Coffee Flowers and Cherries

The Gourmet Coffee Bean Journey, Part 3

Coffee flowers stay for only about 2 weeks. Like most things beautiful, they wither and die. But this is a necessary step in the life cycle of coffee. After the petals turn brown and fall off, they leave tiny stubs that gradually swell and eventually turn into green coffee cherries. After several months, they mature and ripen, ready for harvest.
